976nm Is The General Trend Of The 10,000-watt Laser Era

With the increasing power of fiber lasers, the disadvantages of using 915nm pump sources are becoming more and more prominent. Due to the low absorption efficiency of ytterbium-doped fiber at 915nm wavelength, in order to make the laser output higher power, more 915nm pump should be used, which means:

①The increase of the volume and weight of the laser machine;

② Greater power consumption;

③ To generate more heat, a more powerful chiller is required;

④ The overall design of the laser is more difficult to design.

When the output power reaches a certain level, it becomes extremely complicated to adopt the 915nm pumping scheme. Therefore, high-power fiber lasers need to adopt a more effective pumping scheme, and 976nm pumping is the general trend.
